I always knew that I wanted to be involved in the care of women and their babies but I never imagined what an involved and thrilling journey it would turn out to be. I began my education by completing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Victoria and followed it up with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University near Seattle, Washington. I was aware of Bastyr’s midwifery program but didn’t know how much I wanted midwifery to be a part of my practice until I completed an internship in family medicine following graduation and realized that something was missing.
I finished Bastyr University’s naturopathic midwifery program in March of 2009 after rigorous academic and experiential training. During my time as a midwifery student, I had the privilege of working with a variety of midwives in the Seattle area and look forward to becoming a part of Calgary’s midwifery community.
I was born in Calgary and grew up in Fernie, B.C., and am so excited to be returning home to the mountains. I feel immensely fortunate to be able to share my life and work with women during pregnancy and throughout the birth process. I also look forward to creating a naturopathic practice in Calgary someday as my goal is to provide care to the whole family.
I am excited to be a founding member of the Calgary Midwives Cooperative and to have the opportunity to help Calgary women and their families have the beautiful, healthy birth experiences they deserve.
